Material Data For Easy Squeeze Frosting
Member of Material Category: Edible Materials
Description
This is commercially available cake decorating frosting available in the United States from most grocery stores. This particular type is known as "Easy-Squeeze", typically made by Betty Crocker, Inc., and comes in a tube with a plastic screw cap. The material extrudes well through a variety of taper tip diameters, and serves as a good support material for epoxy parts, including FabEpoxy. It will inhibit crosslinking (curing) of 1-part silicone materials, however.

Techniques and Notes
Filling the syringe barrel is best done from the top. Open the frosting container, and insert the neck of the container into the top of the syringe barrel, pressing it tightly to form a seal. Squeeze the frosting into the syringe barrel. When you reach the desired amount, gradually withdraw the container neck from the barrel while still squeezing until the frosting is flush with the top of the syringe barrel. This will allow you to insert the syringe piston without trapping air between the piston and the frosting.
The frosting contains a large fraction of air, and so the parameters for deposition will vary with the amount of material in the syringe. We recommend working with a 1/2 full syringe only. Completely full syringes of this material are very difficult to control.
